Opening of the exhibition “Vine, Cante y Venci”
On January 29, in the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music, with the support of the US Embassy in Ukraine, the opening of the exhibition “Vine, Cante y Venci” took place. The event was dedicated to the history of the world tours of the Ukrainian Republican Chapel under the leadership of Oleksandr Koshyts and the international triumph of Mykola Leontovych’s “Schedryk”.
The author of the project, Tina Peresunko, spoke about the exhibition, as well as the history of the famous “Schedryk” and presented her book about “Schedryk” which will add to the library fund of the UNTAM.
The president of the UNTAM Maksym Tymoshenko expressed his gratitude to the promoters of the exhibition and the US Embassy for supporting this important project for Ukrainian culture. The head of the Academy noted that the worldwide popularity of “Schedryk” has connections with the Kyiv Conservatory because Oleksandr Koshyts worked at the conservatory for several years and conducted the student choir.
The legendary record of 1922 with the recording of “Shchedryk” performed by the Ukrainian National Choir was presented at the exhibition.
At the event, the choir of boys and young men of the practice sector of the UNTAM under the leadership Alla Sheyko performed the legendary“Schedryk”.
