First Visit of the Italian Ambassador Carlo Formosa to the Academy

On April 10, 2025, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, paid his first visit to the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music (UNTAM).

The meeting was also attended by Carlo Colonella, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Kyiv.
President of the UNTAM, Maksym Tymoshenko, introduced the guests to the members of the rectorate, familiarized them with the Academy’s educational process, and gave them a tour of the institution’s historic building.

Ambassador Formosa was impressed by the rich history of the Kyiv Conservatory, its achievements, and its prominent figures. He played the grand piano once used by one of the Academy’s founders, Sergei Rachmaninoff.

At the Memorial Stand featuring portraits of fallen Heroes, Carlo Formosa honored the memory of UNTAM’s faculty and alumni who gave their lives for Ukraine.

During the visit, Ambassador Carlo Formosa opened a concert by the big band “SaraBanda” and expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome. In recognition of the long-standing cooperation between the Academy and the Embassy of Italy, and as a sign of respect, Maksym Tymoshenko awarded Carlo Formosa with the highest honor of the UNTAM.
